Cotto Petrus, based in Roteglia, installs the first Sacmi PH 3800 Smart press

Cotto Petrus recently installed the first PH 3800 Sacmi press belonging to the new Smart series. This all-new solution - recently developed by Sacmi and supplied on both PH presses and EVA driers - became operational last August at the plant in Roteglia (RE, Italy). This facility is characterised by live connectivity, ultra-high productivity, efficiency and outstanding levels of automation, with the new PH 3800 Smart playing a pivotal role in the manufacture of 30x60 and 60x60 glazed porcelain tiles.

The Smart series, available on several press types, including medium-tonnage ones like the PH 3800, stands out on account of its particularly innovative integrated automation system. Based on the Ethernet Powerlink communication protocol, the automation programme allows ultra-high communication speeds and, therefore, fast and accurate control of all machine operation parameters, consumption included. In designing the solution, Sacmi sought to maximise usability, a goal that has been achieved thanks to a simple, user-friendly interface that provides the operator with valuable diagnostics info.

This purchase decision sees the Frascari family renew its long-standing partnership with Sacmi by investing in the best, up-to-the-minute ceramic pressing technology the market has to offer. Thanks to its enormous data transmission and processing capacity, the press puts the principles of Ceramic Factory 4.0 into practice, making the most of valuable opportunities and leading the way towards a new production and customer service concept.
