New P41 jiggering machine for plates and bowls recently purchased. With high precision and versatility to handle a variety of products and forming technologies, the solution is confirmed as benchmark product in the high-end porcelain market.
Founded in 1747 by Duke Charles I of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, FÜRSTENBERG is the symbol of German porcelain manufactory, with design-led products and a long-standing presence in the high-end hospitality segment. With production entirely based in the Lower Saxony region, Fürstenberg recently made another new and important investment in forming technologies by choosing a SAMA-Lippert solution once more.
The newly purchased machine, the “MultiROLL 500” is designed for jiggering plates and bowls with diameters up to 420/340 mm and various heights. Its standout feature is its remarkable flexibility, as it can utilize different forming technologies—either shaping the top part for plates using the NC tilt-head roller function or shaping the internal part for bowls with the NC roller head retract function—depending on the shape of the product and the desired forming technology. The core of this new development of the proven LIPPERT P41 roller series is the innovative “Motion Control” NC control system for the servo drives, which enables coordinated movements similar to robotic control. This makes it possible to achieve the tilting motion of the roller head for shaping of large plates without the need for cam drive mechanisms.
Provided with a cutter for the clay pugs and a batting-station for the pug slices, the P41 can handle up to 150 pieces/hr, according to the type of piece. All operations are controlled from an electric cabinet, while the servomotors drive the roller head both horizontally and vertically but also swing the roller head with the new tilt head function. The machine is equipped with remote service software and a system for identifying any possible plaster mould breakage.
The operator is facilitated during the operation thanks to the conveyor capacity to arrange up to 6 clay pugs, which are then processed automatically.
Once formed, the piece is extracted together with the mould and sent on to drying, demoulding and other subsequent work processes.
