20.000 m³/h bag filter recently installed for dust suction from 14 points of use including 10 SAMA presses. Supply consolidates successful technological partnership and common vision to achieve sustainability and health & safety in the workplace
One of the leading European manufacturers of porcelain tableware for professional and domestic use, Saturnia has taken a new step towards environmental sustainability and health & safety in the workplace. In fact, a new bag filter system has recently been installed at its factory in Corchiano (Viterbo) for the suppression and extraction of dust generated in the dosing, pressing and finishing departments.
The new system, which completely replaces the existing filter unit, is connected to 14 points of use, including the ten SAMA isostatic presses in operation, the plate finishing stations placed after the press and 4 infeed silos. With a filtering capacity of 20.000 m³/h, the system guarantees a drastic dust reduction both in the flue and in the working environment, helping to create a healthier workplace in conformity with the strictest EC legal limits regarding exposure to crystalline silica which poses a health hazard.
From the point of view of energy consumption, the new system represents a significant improvement: the new installed power of 45 kW – 15 kW less than the previous one – is controlled by a motor with inverter, which regulates the power output intelligently, only when and where it is needed. This means optimized energy consumption, avoiding waste and guaranteeing targeted suction based on the actual functioning of the connected systems.
The decision to install a new system instead of “revamping” the existing one reflects Saturnia’s determination to adopt the most advanced solutions able to combine production efficiency, energy savings and worker health & safety. The investment therefore fits into their wider project focused on technological innovation and sustainability being developed in close collaboration with SACMI, its long-standing partner for all key process technologies.
With this latest installation, Saturnia once again consolidates its leadership in the sector, not just in terms of production volumes and product quality, but also through its concrete attention to the themes of health & safety in the workplace and environmental responsibility.
