Putting sustainability first: SACMI Packaging & Chocolate presents wrapping and packaging solutions at Ipack IMA 2022

Taking center-stage will be the new HY7 ‘hybrid’ wrapping machine, the trailblazer for a new generation of machines suited

Alongside it, visitors can also get a close look at the VPS25C vertical packaging machine for applications across
food and non-food industries.

Quality and sustainability are increasingly the focus of the modern food packaging industry. From this perspective, technology providers and raw material producers face the challenge of supplying the industry with new, environmentally-friendly wrapping materials.
At the forefront of that challenge is SACMI Packaging & Chocolate, the SACMI Division specialized in systems for processing, molding and packaging chocolate, plus solutions for wrapping and primary and secondary packaging.
One of the most recent developments, which the company will showcase at the Ipack IMA fair in Rho (FieraMilano, 3-6 May 2022), is the new HY7 ‘hybrid’ wrapping machine. The exhibited version will have a ‘top twist’ configuration that can operate at speeds of up to 500 pieces per minute.
HY7 favors a multi-style and multi-material approach, streamlining the transition to new eco-sustainable materials. SACMI Packaging & Chocolate drives innovation on a daily basis: it does so in concert with the main packaging material manufacturers so that the materials can be tested on SACMI machines by key customers around the world.
What makes the Carle & Montanari-branded HY7 so outstanding is its ‘hybrid’ technology. This takes design beyond a traditional mechanical transmission approach to include high-performance, energy-efficient servo drives, reducing, on average, the number of components in machine units by up to 40% compared to previous models.
In the showcased ‘top twist’ configuration the easy-to-manage HY7 provides outstanding output rates. Moreover, it’s set up to allow the later addition of new ‘modules’ that can handle different styles (top, but also side and double twist, bunch, envelope and wallet, etc.). Efficiency and returns are enhanced by advanced controls that simplify maintenance, allowing users to intervene preventively should there be any deviation from optimal performance.
 
In addition to the HY7, the Milan Fair offers SACMI Packaging & Chocolate an excellent opportunity to present its range of vertical packaging machines, such as the VPS25C, a continuous packaging machine designed to meet the demand for high speed and flexibility in food and non-food industries.
Extremely compact, the machine is made entirely of stainless steel, is easy to maintain and clean, and designed for fast, simple format changeovers. Suitable for a range of industries, applications include the most diverse packaging styles (pillow box, Euro-hole, square drawer, clip application, labels for resealable packages and 4-weld) and wrapping material types (including those with low environmental impact, to be exhibited the fair) to meet every possible production requirement.
