Indian Ceramics: unrivalled SACMI technology to cope with higher costs

SACMI to play a leading role at Indian Ceramics with a full plant engineering range and a sharp focus on the core stages of production: body preparation, molding, drying and firing. Also: 2023 will see further expansion of the vital SACMI Engineering headquarters, both a production and assistance facility

The world’s second-largest market by volume, India continues to invest in ceramic manufacturing and is making good use of technology to deal with the rising cost of raw materials, energy and international shipping. This, then, is the backdrop to the 17th edition of Indian Ceramics, where SACMI will play a pivotal role thanks to a complete plant engineering package that combines high productivity and uncompromising quality with environmental sustainability.
With its Continua+ range, SACMI leads the way on the slab and sub-size manufacturing market. More than 15 fast, versatile Continua+ systems have already been installed in India, six in 2022 alone. Visitors to the SACMI stand (stand C201 – Hall 2) will have a great opportunity to get a close look at the range, latest models included, and the integrated range of cutting, squaring, polishing and lapping lines by partner company SACMI-BMR.
On the product front, the Indian market has a fast-growing countertop segment. Continua+ can produce tops of various size and thickness (80x160, 80x320 cm, etc.), products of the utmost quality that ensure outstanding aesthetics down to the last detail.

The go-to solutions provider for the Indian market is SACMI Engineering which, in 2023, plans to strengthen its team and expand its facilities. A vital hub for all spare parts and technical assistance services, it also manufactures machines specifically designed for the Indian market (spray dryers, dryers and kiln parts).
Such machines also include SACMI’s ‘zero fuel’ solutions: in practice, spray dryers and dryers that can run - partially or totally - without fuel by using the heat retrieved from the kiln. In short: an immediate response to the soaring energy and transport costs that risk affecting investment decisions, especially on a market like India where firms have always been export-oriented.
At India Ceramics, SACMI aims to draw the market’s attention to the core stages of the ceramic production process - body preparation, forming, drying, firing - in which it has been the unchallenged world leader for over 70 years thanks to unequalled expertise.
Moreover, sustainability and digitalization drivers are incorporated in every one of these stages. For example, Continua+, technology offers the lowest consumption on the market (just 0.05 kWh during the compaction phase), while the latest market-beating kilns in the Maestro range offer a full range of heat and energy recovery systems.

Alongside the Tiles range, Indian Ceramics will also see SACMI display sanitaryware and tableware solutions: a range that’s set the global benchmark for over 35 years, building its success on ever-greater automation at every stage of the process. In this segment, SACMI offers the dual advantages of better working conditions and traceable, repeatable product quality. Moreover, the recent launch of major innovations provides full automation at every phase, robotic finishing and handling included.
SACMI also plays a guiding role in the promotion of ceramic technology with one-of-a-kind initiatives in the sector: the company recently published revised editions of its Technology for Tiles and Ceramic Sanitaryware books, followed by a first edition of Technology for Tableware.
