GSI – based in Gallese (Viterbo) – updates its technology with new ALV cell for high-pressure casting of design washbasins. Flexibility and automation are the key features of this solution, already designed to handle expansion target of 200 pieces per day.
SACMI has recently completed the supply of a cutting-edge ALV cell to GSI Ceramica, prominent company in the Italian high-quality sanitaryware manufacturing district.
This solution is dedicated to the production of modern “countertop washbasins”, design pieces of high quality and functionality which will be made by GSI according to the latest SACMI RobotCasting automation standards.
Created to meet demand for flexible and automatic production, the ALV cell supplied to GSI is made up of two casting machines, connected to high-performance Gaiotto automation technology for the control of demoulding, bar-code printing and subsequent car loading with the finished piece.
The principal strong point of the ALV is the highly flexible way in which the moulds can be managed; with rotation up to 90° to optimize casting and obtain high quality surfaces with a good appearance. This means that, straight after casting, the piece is already perfect in every detail; a simple air knife removes the residue of water from the piece, which can then be transferred to the next stages without the need for any other work.
A further advantage of the ALV cell is the independent control of every work-cycle, enabling production on the two machines, in parallel, of pieces with different shapes and sizes or even different materials. Currently set up with two machines for a production capacity of approx. 130 pieces per day, the cell supplied to GSI is already designd for the addition of a third machine, which will make it possible to reach an output of 200 pieces per day. This modular configuration makes it easier to carry out further expansions in the future according to production requirements.
